Movement and Safety

3:30pm to 6:30pm
Sunday 2nd March

Collingwood Athletics Track, Clifton Hill

(Men are invited, too!!)

Women are runners.

Women run, walk, sweat, strive, jog, struggle, succeed, sprint and accomplish.

Women know their drills, fartlek, threshold and easy pace.

Women thrive on connection through running, on challenging themselves and the pain that comes with achieving great things.

Women set personal bests and break records.

Women own their space on the running paths, tracks and trails.

Some women are new runners, improving runners, comfort runners, hard working runners, or any kind of runners.

The International Women's Day Running Connection is where women can connect and feel powerful being a runner.

The International Women's Day Running Connection is a day to encourage, support and promote participation by women in running by providing connections and information to help women enjoy running safely in their community. It is free to attend. Men are invited, too!!

The goal of the day is connection and safety:

  • Connection with one another and with other runners like them in the community where you live,

  • Launching a safety plan, "Safe on the go", to empower women and vulnerable people to be safe and free.

Women are integral members of our running community - this event is aimed at uplifting women runners, young and old, new and improving.

Features

  • Find out about connecting with other runners like you in your area.

  • Go for a run in the park with other women.

  • Do a pilates class or learn about being strong.

  • Listen, learn and be entertained by some inspiring women runners.

#safeonthego - A new safety plan

We believe that:

  • Everybody should feel safe when they are outside.

  • Safety is the responsibility of everyone.

We are launching a new safety plan called #safeonthego

Be part of spreading the word, and awareness, about what it means and what it takes to be safe when you - and everybody else - are on the go outside.

Equal opportunity; equal safety.

Entertained and Engaged

We are surrounded by amazing women runners with insights, perspectives, thoughts, opinions, attitude and a sense of humour. This panel of women will tackle some big topics, give advice on important matters, give honest options and take the piss.

Who are these women we'll be sharing our space with?

  • Elise Beacom - host of "Run with it" podcast

  • Alice Bacquie - physiotherapist and forRunners App

  • Lucy Bartholomew - international ultra athlete

  • Sophie Fitt - podiatrist, coach, runner, mother

Running Group Connections

We are reaching out to and inviting any running group from across Melbourne to come and connect with YOU - women who are looking for connection and safety on the run.

Whether your running group is online, niche, mainstream, word-of-mouth, Instafamous, funky, casual or just anything, we invite you to tell your story and welcome new runners looking for a group of people just like you. Please let us know you're coming so we can have a space ready for you.

If you want to run with a group - here is the place to meet some. Make connections and find your crew to connect and run with.

Retail and Brands

Come to talk and learn from experts about shoes and accessories you need for running, who represent some of our retail outlets. They also have great running communities to connect with.

You'll also get to see and experience a great range of running clothes for women from well known brands who know about making great looking and feeling gear.

We'll be announcing the visiting retailers and brands very soon...

Men Are Part Of This, Too!!

Step up, show up and stand together. Men are part of this - we run alongside each other share many of the same experiences.

Being safe includes and involves men and women. Running is inclusive so don't be shy; men are welcome to come too.
